Prestige Auto Group - VOODOO Custom Vehicles

Prestige Auto Group is a company I have been a freelance automotive photographer for some time now. Their customised pickup trucks (Voodoo) attract a demographic who appreciate bespoke designs that turn heads in urban settings but are also utilitarian and functional. As a photographer I had to capture images that clearly show how unique the vehicles are, focusing on particular products as well as demonstrating them in real-life scenarios.

Here is a selection of images I took at their HQ in Telford, UK demonstrating the customised vehicles in the showroom. These images were shot and edited to reflect the brand tone; clean, premium and unique.

Milltek Sport - Tunerfest South at Brands Hatch Circuit

After numerous events were cancelled from the pandemic, the UK had a moment to breathe as restrictions were lifted allowing Brands Hatch Circuit to host Tunerfest South.

As part of the Milltek Sport Exhaust marketing strategy, we took the Milltek fleet consisting of a brand new BMW M135i, a Mercedes CLA 45S and the Audi RSQ8 towing along a little Ford Fiesta ST, to exhibit the brand and to connect with fellow tuners and enthusiasts in the south.

My role as a professional photographer was to capture Milltek Sport’s presence at the event and to exhibit the potential of their products being used on the track by various race teams and tuners. I needed to photograph a range of scenes to capture both Milltek brand-focused imagery, unique moments from Tunerfest South, and to create exciting content exhibiting the potential of their products inspiring people to join the Milltek tuning community.

Here’s my selection of content taken from the day…

High Quality Photo Retouching

As a professional photographer, a huge part of my work is spent on post-production. This is not only where I engineer tones, colours and image effects in Adobe Lightroom, but also where I spend hours sometimes retouching and perfecting images in Adobe Photoshop to remove imperfections, props and tools used in the shoot, as well as layering images together when using particular lighting techniques.

Below are a set of images taken by Rob Smalley at Scene Studios in Nottingham, retouched by myself as part of a project for K-Tech Suspension.

Although Rob Smalley and his assistant Simon Bernacki did a great job of shooting the images by removing dust, wiping fingerprints and using clear wire to prop products; there was still a fair bit of work to do after the shoot to get the images where they needed to be for use on billboards, websites and social media etc

Here are some before and afters of Rob’s images I edited for K-Tech Suspension…

K-Tech Suspension - Bennetts British Superbike

During my time working for K-Tech Suspension, I’ve had the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the UK’s top motorcycle racers at BSB, Super Stock and other motorcycle championships. The aim of these shoots was to capture the association between K-Tech Suspension, and various riders such as Tommy Bridewell, John McGuinness, Danny Buchan and many more.

During race weekends, the K-Tech support team communicate with riders to collect subjective feedback on issues or ride characteristics, as well as quantitative data to optimise a suspension setup for each track, each weather condition and each strategy requirement over the season.

Photographing these live race events come with challenges as it’s easy to get in the way of the busy environment as team members rush around changing tyres and swapping shocks in time for the next race. Knowing the safe zones and picking my moments were crucial to getting these shots.

Testing with MX Champion Tommy Searle

As part of positioning the K-Tech brand as a leading motorcycle suspension manufacturer, K-Tech Suspension brought on one of the UK’s most successful motocross athletes, Tommy Searle, as a brand ambassador to promote K-Tech suspension products and inspire people to improve their riding.

K-Tech regularly meets with Tommy to create content, test products and associate the brand with a top-level professional rider. Here are two collections of images taken of Tommy Searle and ‘One Click Mick’ (an in-house race support team member for K-Tech) refining Searle’s suspension setup, gathering feedback and creating social media content.

Later in the year K-Tech met up again with Searle to experiment with a few different shock absorbers, fork geometries and preload settings to cope with the soft sand tracks throughout the UK…
